Cloud Operations Engineer

This has been the most integral job role I ever had. So, I have learn a lot. 

In this role, I'm a key contributor to the success of our Infrastructure and IT Operations, working on IBM's largest internal organizations. We are also a really big team, so responsibilities are pretty much segmented. Despite this, I work very closely to the executive core of our internal organization, providing feedback and advise to important decisions along with our solutions and business architects, project managers, customers and clients. I also used to communicate with other professionals from our clients such as DevOps Engineers, Developers, Support Engineers and Project Managers. So, as part of my responsibilities as Cloud Operations Engineer also include providing technical guidance to customers and clients.

These are my day to day activities based on what I mentioned above:

  • I Serve as the primary point of contact for edge observability implementations within our clients, adhering to IBM Standards and utilizing tools such as Instana and Turbonomics for cluster onboarding, support, and maintenance.
  • Drive client success by implementing proven methods for deploying container orchestration tools, including Openshift and Kubernetes.
  • I also collaborate with clients on the implementation and management of Azure cloud solutions, embracing Hybrid Cloud as a strategy for maximizing efficiency and flexibility. This is a completely new stage for us, and we are all learning. 
  • Expedite infrastructure and service provisioning using IBM's Terraform provider to meet client needs promptly and effectively. (This have change a bit since the migration of this process to another team)
  • Implement continuous integration methodologies to control cluster management and enable efficient monitoring, utilizing repo-oriented Argo CD workflows. Configure Argo CD apps for Helm Repos and other relevant settings.
  • Engage in active monitoring and take intelligent actions based on data derived from observability tools such as Instana, New Relic, LogDNA, and SysDig. (I was the point of contact for New Relic's configuration, maintenance and onboarding, but we are not longer using it)
